July 22, 2012: Almost a washout

A quick, low-key, stay was planned aboard the Rose this weekend, as activities on-land both Friday and Sunday evenings set a limit to time available on the water.  The highlight of the weekend was to be a cruise to meet-up with friends at their waterfront home.  Although only forecast as a 30%-chance of rain from 2am-to-8am Saturday morning, the torrential downpours which lasted the entire day proved once-again that weather-prediction is akin to an Ouija-board under control of a twelve-year-old…

Christina and crew made it to their friends’ compound 16.3nm away despite the weather, to a spectacular multi-acre estate on a peninsula with 270-degrees of waterfront near Annapolis, MD;  quite-possibly the most-expensive real-estate area in all of Maryland.  Fortunately, our friend’s gorgeous house was large enough to accommodate the 60+ people attending the party planned for outdoors…

A straight-blast back to the marina, arriving at 9pm Saturday to clear skies.  4000RPM the entire-way, 26knots covering 16.3nm in only 47-minutes.  A quick tie-up and lights-out to a pretty long day by 11pm.

Sunday morning coffee and dounts at the marina, 3 perch caught at the docks, lunch at the slip, then an early departure for home by 2pm.  Total cruise this weekend was 32.6nm, averaging 20knots with a total time underway of 1-hour and 38-minutes.  Total time aboard for crew was 41-hours, some of which was under bright sunny skies 🙂
