Jul 5, 2014: Firework Frolic

The arrival of Tropical Storm Arthur over this July 4th weekend changed plans for many around the Chesapeake, but the weather actually helped clarify which of the many fireworks options we’d focus on. With multiple firework-shows from July-3rd through July-6th, our luck (so-far this season) has been positive, and our primary destination was the one which worked out best: the CBMM-show at St. Michaels.

We were fortunate enough to host the two people responsible for paying all the fuel and repair bills for the Christina Rose, the Captain’s land-based bosses, Jose and Merina. We were also fortunate that the three days of 20-plus knot winds laid-down just in time to create calm seas through Eastern Bay and allowed the fireworks to light-off as-planned Saturday night.

Below is video of the way-out and the way-back, a spectacular day on Eastern Bay and the Miles River, 05JUL14:

All-in-all, a really nice day to be out on the water, where we put 45.6nm on the Rose with a maximum speed of 26kt while maintaining roughly 3900RPM at 0.7nm/gal, averaging a little more than 15kt while underway. Happy Wakes! Feel free to drop me a note anytime, ChristinaRose@edickent.com
