Jun 08, 2014: Friends Cruise

Christina played floating-host to friends, on yet one more spectacular weekend to be out on the water. We efficiently prepared for the weekend, finally getting good at selection of what to take and what to leave home. Another weekend with no big plans, no need to race anywhere, the crew arrived earlier Friday evening than usual and just relaxed until our friend’s arrival on Saturday afternoon.

The crew enjoyed coffee and donuts at the marina Saturday morning, as the First Mate rode bikes and played with a marina-friend while the Captain gave Christina a long-overdue bath waiting for the Admiral’s friend and family to arrive. Everyone settled quickly onboard, then all headed up the Chester River to drop anchor and simply relax on the water for what turned out to be the nicest day so far this year.

Telling the story once again through pictures and video, as words couldn’t describe how perfect the weekend turned out to be anyway…

Video of the way-out, a little time on the hook, and the way back (no sound). Unfortunately forgot to start the aft-facing camera on the way back, which missed the kids tubing and the cops pulling the Rose over… more about that later!

After (a severely burnt) dinner, the Rose was straightened-up, then we headed back to the marina with a couple junior captains manning their own craft, eventually becoming three inside the small tube. Everyone was enjoying the slow-roll home as the sun set, right up to the point where Maryland DNR police officers pulled us over to remind Christina’s Captain that we were 30-minutes past sunset! Thanking the officers for their attention, we dragged the three crew-members back on-board, then throttled-up all the way back to the marina. Thanks again to the water-po-po for keeping everyone safe!

Arriving safely back at the marina, Christina’s guests quickly disembarked, the First Mate passed out while the Captain and Admiral cleaned and buttoned-up before passing out too.

Sunday was another gorgeous day at the marina, this is how we should wake up every day... coffee and donuts overlooking the scenery before most everyone wakes 08JUN14

A short cruise at 24.6nm, some of it was quick, some of it was pulling a tube, some of it was with blue flashing lights. A great weekend.

All-in-all, a calm weekend and a gentle cruise with friends, some water-activity, some burnt dinner (notice: no pictures!), a lot of just relaxing. A perfect weekend all the way around. The Christina Rose performed flawlessly, driving 24.6nm at a maximum of 25.0kt and averaging 16kt while underway. Hopefully every weekend this year ends-up as perfect as this one…

Happy Wakes! Feel free to drop me a note anytime, ChristinaRose@edickent.com
